Galway All-Ireland Senior Football Champions 1956


Galway claimed a three-point win, mainly thanks to Frank Stockwell’s 2-5 (plus one goal disallowed). It was the 4th time Galway had won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and their first win since 1938.
The “terrible twins” were central to Galway’s footballing success this year. The “Terrible Twins” refers to Frank Stockwell and Seán Purcell.
