The Great Leap Forward, Thurles 1962

£29.50

The Great Leap Forward: Thurles. July 10, 1962 – Waterford goalkeeper Ned Power making the most spectacular save ever recorded. In the Munster semi-final against Cork Tom Cunningham has his right arm and hurley wrapped around Christy Ring, but the activity of the two ‘gladiators’ is best left to the imagination. Tipperary’s great defender John Doyle once referred to his goal area as “hell’s Kitchen”. This photograph shows just what he meant.
