The duel between these two great horses. Dawn Run, the only mare to have won both the Champion Hurdles and the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. The duel which was organised by Vincent O’Brien in 1985 at Puchestown Racing Track drew crowds of thousands. Dawn Run won by a narrow margin.
Peter Deighan was there to witness the spectacle.
