This Plaque is individually made by Crafts men for the All-Ireland Senior Football Champions of 1944 – Roscommon, with a Hand Painted crest in cold cast Bronze and a Painting of the Team by Brian O’Flaherty.
Roscommon defeated Kerry in the 1944 final before a record attendance of 79,245. This was also the largest crowd at any sporting event in Ireland at the time. During the game scores were level three times in an action packed encounter. The western men joined the greats of Gaelic Games by winning a prized ‘Two in a Row’. Jimmy Murray and his men crossed the Shannon with the Sam Maguire cup to a rapturous welcome from their delighted supporters.
