Gelston’s Old Irish Whiskey
1880’s period, advert for ‘Gelston’s Old Irish Whiskey, made by H.J. Neill Ltd, Belfast. Designed and printed by Marcus Ward & Co. and depicts a scene in the Gap of Dunloe, Killarney, with two ‘gentlemen’ abandoning a horse-drawn carriage with two rueful ladies left on board, as the gentlemen are woed by a dusky Irish colleen sitting on a rock, holding a bottle of ‘Gelston’s’ and proferring a dram to the eager country gents, in deerstalker and Tam O’Shantee.
