Clare 5-16 : Cork 3-16

Clare are All-Ireland senior hurling champions for the first time since 1997 after defeating Cork in a classic at Croke Park.
In front of 82,276 spectators at HQ, the Banner County scored a six-point success in a titanic replay.
Shane O’Donnell, a late call-up to the starting line-up in place of Darach Honan, justified his inclusion with a stunning individual haul of 3-03, all from play.

Clare 0-20 : Tipperary 2-13

This is the inaugural year of the new championship format that allows beaten provincial finalists re-enter the All-Ireland championship. And already it has delivered a historic final between two counties from the same province. Clare beat Tipp in the Munster final and added Kilkenny’s scalp in the All-Ireland semi-final. Ger Loughnane’s team are favourites but Tipperary put out champions Wexford in their semi-final and have tradition on their side. However Clare are hoping to establish a tradition of their own.

Clare 1-13 : Offaly 2-08

One of the most vibrant All-Ireland championships reaches a climax with the meeting of champions Offaly and Ger Loughnane’s resurgent Clare. It had been 63 years since Clare won the Munster championship but on a day of high emotion they dethroned holders Limerick in Thurles with the momentum taking them through Galway to reach the final. Offaly’s highpoint was victory in an
extraordinary Leinster final with old rivals Kilkenny.
Clare go into this as outsiders but the intensity of their support and the drive of players like Brian Lohan and Anthony Daly mean they won’t go down easily against the classy champions.
