This Plaque is individually made by Crafts men for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Champions of 1956 – Wexford, with a Hand Painted crest in cold cast Bronze and a Painting of the Team by Brian O’Flaherty.
In one of the greatest Hurling finals of the century, 83,000 spectators watched Wexford defeat Cork in a rip roaring classic at Croke Park. The Christy Ring/Bobby Rackard duel was a highlight of the contest. Wexford keeper Art Foley made a wonder save from Ring in the closing stages to turn the tide in wexford’s favour. The Cup returned to Slaneyside for the second year in succession.
