Mickey Harte led an extremely talented group of young Tyrone footballers to Ulster and All-Ireland U21 titles in 2000 and 2001, having led the same group to minor glories in the years previous. Those 2000 and 2001 teams now read like all-time great Tyrone teams, so many senior Celtic Cross winners there are in them.
Pascal McConnell, Gavin Devlin, Ciarán Gourley, the late Cormac McAnallen, Kevin Hughes, Brian McGuigan, Stephen O’Neill, Owen Mulligan, Conor Gormley, Philip Jordan and Enda McGinley were all part of one or both of the 2000 and 2001 teams, and they all went on to be part of some or all of the All-Ireland senior winning teams of 2003, 2005 and 2008.
